Partners Announce Support for Exchange 2000

ORLANDO – Microsoft Corp. said today at TechEd here that 2,500 technology specialists, 12 ASPs and several ISVs now support Exchange 2000.

A second release candidate (RC) of the next generation e-mail and messaging platform was released on Friday.

Chris Baker, a product manager at Microsoft (www.microsoft.com), says that of the 2,500 specialists, about 800 of them are within some of the industry’s biggest consulting firms, such as EDS (www.eds.com), IBM Corp. (www.ibm.com), Compaq Computer Corp. (www.compaq.com), Dell Computer Corp. (www.dell.com) and Hewlett-Packard Co. (www.hp.com).

There are also about 1500 Microsoft Certified Software Professionals (MCSPs) trained on the new software through Microsoft Certified Technical Education Centers (CTECs), as well as 500 or so VAPs.

In addition to the 12 ASPs that said they support Exchange 2000, Baker says that about 25 more are in a pilot program that runs until the end of the summer. – Thomas Sullivan
