Business Objects Acquires OLAP@Work

Business Objects announced the acquisition of OLAP@Work Inc., which it purchased for about $15 million. Business Objects is a business intelligence (BI) solutions provider, and OLAP@Work is a provider of OLAP (online analytical processing) tools.

Using the OLAP@Work (www.olapatwork.com/) office in Ottawa, Canada, Business Objects (www.businessobjects.com/) will establish a Canadian headquarters and a new development center. The company will continue to support existing OLAP@Work products as well as integrate products into current and future solutions in the Business Objects product line.

In addition to rounding out its BI solutions with OLAP tools, Business Objects plans to use the acquisition to further enhance existing products which are built on top of Microsoft Corp. (www.microsoft.com/) and SAP AG (www.sap.com/) products. Both Business Objects and OLAP@Work have a long-standing relationship with Microsoft. --Alicia Costanza
