Ipswitch Releases Mail Server

Enhanced Web messaging features, anti-spamming support, and tighter security are some of the features found in Ipswitch Inc.'s IMail Server 6.0 for Windows NT.

Security in IMail Server 6.0 now includes support for Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption in Web messaging. In addition, IMail Server's list server has been enhanced for greater security. Administrators can now control who can post to a list by requiring a password. Administrators can also create public lists but screen messages sent to them by filters. Such filtering helps to eliminate spam from mailing lists. In addition, IMail Server now supports authenticated POP (APOP) for secure interaction with e-mail clients for greater password protection.

IMail Server's Web messaging capabilities are similar to the features of a desktop e-mail client. Users can save unfinished messages in a draft folder. Keyword searches are also possible with IMail Server's new Web messaging capabilities.

IMail Server's user manager, list server manager, Web messaging manager and service control panel, which were formerly separate applications, are now combined into one application known as the IMail Administrator. Several new wizards and a consolidated help file are also new features in version 6.0.
