SAS Institute Inc. has chosen Microsoft Azure to be its preferred cloud service provider, expanding the two companies' existing partnership.
Microsoft and SAS are creating more integrations between their solutions as part of the deal announced Monday. SAS' "edge-to-cloud IoT analytics and AI capabilities" already work with the Azure IoT platform. Now, its products are also being designed to work with "Azure, Dynamics 365, Microsoft 365 and Power Platform," supporting artificial intelligence and data analytics capabilities.
SAS' Viya in-memory analytics solution was added to the Azure Marketplace in March. Viya is being built to use "containers, the Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Synapse and other Microsoft services," according to SAS' landing page describing the Microsoft integrations.
Later this year, the two companies are planning to integrate more SAS products with Microsoft's cloud services. Co-selling products is also part of their plans. SAS is currently using Dynamics 365 and Microsoft 365 solutions to "power its internal operations."
As part of the partnership with Microsoft, SAS offers to serve as a managed service provider on Azure to its customers. It also helps with container deployments on Azure, and it has an SAS Retail cloud analytics solution that's hosted on Azure, per the SAS landing page.
SAS will be holding its Global Forum event on June 16 at 11:00 a.m. EST as a virtual event. The event will be featuring SAS CEO Jim Goodnight and CTO Oliver Schabenberger as speakers.
