Shortly after duking it out in the gigahertz processor arena with Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (

Intel added two new Pentium III processors to its line that run at 866 and 850 MHz. The company plans to market these processors toward both home and business computing.
The Pentium III processors at 866 and 850 MHz are designed to power a multimedia-rich Internet experience including audio, video, animation and 3-D.
As with Intel’s other new processors, these latest Pentium IIIs ship with Level 2 cache that runs at the full speed of the core processor. This feature, the Advanced Transfer Cache, enables application performance to scale with increasing clock frequencies.
