Quest Software Rolls out Exchange Availability Package

Quest Software this week announced a new product that is designed to increase e-mail availability for Exchange users.
Availability Manager for Exchange detects when e-mail outages occur and automatically switches users to a pre-defined Exchange server or store where they will continue to have send/receive mail capabilities, according to statements by Irvine, Calif.-based Quest Software.
The package is meant to help maintain service level agreements (SLA) by enabling users to send/receive e-mails within minutes after a disaster instead of having to wait until their original server has recovered. After a failed server/store has been restored, users are moved back to their original server without any data loss.
Availability Manager uses the Quest Management Console for Exchange for its administrative interface. Based on the Microsoft Management Console (MMC), the Management Console allows Quest Exchange management products to “snap-in.” The console allows administrators to manage Exchange and its supporting infrastructure without having to leave the console.
Besides as a stand alone product, Quest Availability Manager for Exchange is also available in the Quest Performance Suite for Exchange. The suite is comprised of Quest Availability Manager for Exchange, and Quest Spotlight on Exchange, which is used to diagnose and resolve Exchange performance bottlenecks.
Availability Manager for Exchange starts at $8 per managed mailbox, while Performance Suite for Exchange starts at $10 per managed mailbox.
