Motorola Teams with Microsoft on Emergency Response Solutions

Motorola and Microsoft are working together on a line of communication and incident management applications for law enforcement, first responders and criminal justice systems.
The companies outlined a strategic alliance on Tuesday involving marketing and development support. Under the agreement, Motorola will develop its next generation of law enforcement, first responder and criminal justice applications on the Microsoft .NET Framework and the Windows Server System.
The applications will be designed to provide rapid, seamless incident management that quickly and efficiently handles incident information and recording, storage and retrieval of department records.
Existing Motorola applications, NetRMS Records Management System and Computer Aided Dispatch, will immediately take advantage of the partnership, the companies said. Going forward, Motorola will develop justice, public safety and public service applications using Visual Studio .NET 2003, SQL Server, BizTalk Server and .NET Web services.
“Microsoft recognizes and takes seriously the growing challenge to law enforcement, first responders and emergency management officials to communicate vital information in real time,” Tom Richey, Microsoft's executive director of Homeland Security for the Worldwide Public Sector, said in a statement.
Timothy Boyle, Motorola vice president of business development, said using the Microsoft platform will speed Motorola's development time without giving up reliability and availability. “Mission-critical environments demand unparalleled reliability and continuous data access. The Microsoft platform allows us to meet, even exceed, those demands,” Boyle said in a statement.
Motorola has been a key Microsoft early adopter partner and reference account for the Windows Server System.
