Exchange 2000 Released to Manufacturing

Following an internal rollout, Microsoft Corp. has released Exchange 2000 to manufacturing. Exchange 2000 is the third part of a Microsoft Enteprise 2000 intiative to be introduced in full later this fall, along with SQL Server 2000 and Windows 2000 Datacenter Server.

Exchange 2000 is Microsoft's (www.microsoft.com) unified messaging system, which integrates e-mail, voice messaging, conferencing, and instant messaging service. Exchange 2000 is the first application to run on Active Directory. Exchange 2000 will also feature an Outlook Web Access client, so users can access their Exchange services remotely.

Participants in Microsoft's Joint Development Program received RTM versions of Exchange 2000 on August 31.
