Exabyte Delivers New M2 Tape Library

Exabyte Corp. announced the Exabyte 430 tape library, the newest to utilize its Mammoth-2 (M2) technology.

The 430 with M2 is a 4-drive, 30-cartridge library. It has a capacity of up to 1.8 TB (uncompressed) and a data transfer rate of 173 GB per hour (uncompressed). The library supports multiple operating platforms, including Windows NT, Linux, and Unix. It features field-replaceable drives and an entry-exit port to prevent accidental contamination of data. The initial interface is SCSI-based, but can be hot-swapped to fiber, and the library offers an Ethernet connection as well.
