Reports: Jackson Sends Microsoft to Supreme Court

The Microsoft saga continues. Online news agencies report that Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson petitioned the Supreme Court to hear Microsoft's appeal, rather than conducting the process through the appellate circuit courts.

CNet News (www.news.com) reports that in addition to recommending the case to the Supreme Court, Jackson stayed the extensive business restrictions that were to be implemented on September 5 in accordance with the original ruling.

Jackson's recommendation to the Supreme Court came under a little-known law called the Antitrust Expediting Act, used only twice before, according to a report from CNN.com. The judge's recommendation of the case to the Supreme Court would circumvent the circuit appeal Microsoft (www.microsoft.com) has pending.
