Emulex Teams with EMC, Microsoft at N+I

Emulex Corp., a maker of Fibre Channel products and technology, teamed with Microsoft Corp. and EMC Corp. to demonstrate a SAN at the NetWorld + Interop 2000 conference in Las Vegas.

The Fibre Channel SAN demonstration was used during the opening keynote presentation by Microsoft ( chairman Bill Gates and featured four Emulex ( LP8000 Fibre Channel host bus adapters running under Windows 2000 attached to an EMC ( Symmetrix Enterprise Storage system. The configuration was optimized to maximize the 100 MB/s Fibre Channel bandwidth for video content delivery.

Emulex' 64-bit PCI LP8000 provides full fabric support using F_Port and FL_Port connections, high data integrity, full-duplex operation, data buffering to support up to 100km cabling, and support for all fibre channel topologies and service classes 2 and 3. The LP8000 is supported by a wide range of software, incuding support for SCSI, IP, as well as multi-protocol (SCSI & IP) operation.
