Dot Hill Unveils Dot Alert SAN Security System

Dot Hill Systems Corp. released Dot Alert, a real-time notification system for Dot Hill's carrier class SANnet storage systems that allows Dot Hill to begin to respond immediately to system irregularities and predictive failures, reducing downtime and helping to prevent system failures before they occur.

Customers can have Dot Alert report directly to Dot Hill's 24-hour Global Response Center (GRC), a live help desk comprised of service and maintenance experts with access to the company's worldwide network of resources. Upon receiving a report, Dot Hill's customer support team can dispatch replacement parts or a professional service technician, or take other action, without the need for customer involvement. Notification is also available through any SNMP enterprise manager such as HP OpenView, Tivoli TME, and Computer Associates UniCenter.

Dot Alert is a feature of Dot Hill's SANscape 2.2, a Java-based software utility that remotely manages the company's SANnet systems through an easy-to-use GUI.
