Sequent Computer Systems Inc. announced the eReady Program, an initiative to partner with independent software vendors (ISVs) to enable the delivery of applications to businesses over the Internet.
The program includes the eReady Lab, a Web-hosted application center where software vendors and system integrators can work with Sequent to design and test Web hosted application delivery solutions in a real-world environment. Sequent is teaming with Microsoft Corp., EMC Corp. (www.emc.com), Cisco Systems Inc. and other infrastructure partners to support this testing environment. For instance, Sequent will provide a Web-hosted application infrastructure design and testing environment for Windows NT-based applications by working with Microsoft.
The lab allows organizations to model and test the infrastructure requirements for the provisioning of applications, and assess the business cases for different approaches to deployment, such as in-house hosting and various outsourcing options.
Sequent is currently working with several ISVs to develop Web-hosted solutions, including Clarus Corp. (www.claruscorp.com) and Pivotal Software, Inc. (www.pivotal.com). -- Thomas Sullivan
