The Envelope, Please…

For partners, capturing one of Microsoft’s annual Partner of the Year Awards must be like winning an Oscar, an Emmy, a Pulitzer and maybe the World Series -- all at the same time.

Microsoft announced the winners of its coveted awards Wednesday night during Velocity 2006, the sold-out Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Boston.

The company awarded Technology Innovation Awards and Sales and Marketing Awards in 15 categories ranging from Advanced Infrastructure Solutions to Small Business Specialist.

Microsoft also presented awards for “excellence in specialization” in most categories and announced multiple recipients of its Winning Customer and Customer Service Awards.

Open Text Corp., a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner based in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, was named Global ISV Partner of the Year. Avanade Inc. of Seattle and Accenture Inc. of Chicago, both Gold Certified Partners, shared the Global Enterprise Services and Technology Partner of the Year Award.
