Microsoft Launching New Business Conference in July

Microsoft plans to host a brand-new conference this summer that's focused on its business intelligence (BI) technologies, as well as its various "365"-branded products.

The inaugural "Microsoft Business Applications Summit" will take place on July 22 in Seattle, Wash. Registration is currently not open, but those interested in staying in the loop can sign up for updates here.

Microsoft announced the new event on Wednesday via a blog post by James Phillips, corporate vice president of its Business Applications group. Phillips described the new event as "an in-depth look" at how Microsoft's various BI offerings work within its larger business applications platform, which spans Dynamics 365, Office 365, Power BI and PowerApps, among others.

"We'll have something for everyone in the community -- customer sessions for business leaders who want to understand what's possible, engineering-led technical sessions for practitioners who want to dive really deep, and what's coming sessions for those who want to get a jump start on our most cutting-edge technologies," Phillips said.

Microsoft intends the new Business Applications Summit to be a combination of its older Convergence, Data Insights Summit and Dynamics 365 Technical Conference events, according to the Web site.

The announcement of the new event coincided with a live-streamed talk hosted by Phillips on Wednesday morning about the upcoming Dynamics 365 Spring '18 release. Slated for April 2, the spring release will bring "an unmatchable spectrum of capabilities" to Dynamics 365, Phillips said during the talk, which is available to watch on-demand here.

The talk mostly consisted of product demos of the Dynamics 365 suite, showcasing upcoming features and integrations. For ongoing coverage of Dynamics 365, including the spring release, visit RCP's 2018 Microsoft Product Roadmap.

With Wednesday's news, the roster of major Microsoft conferences for 2018 is as follows:

  • Build: May 7-9, Seattle, Wash.
  • Inspire: July 15-19, Las Vegas, Nev.
  • Business Applications Summit: July 22-24, Seattle, Wash.
