VersionOne Beefs Up Agile Management App

VersionOne is offering the latest release of its agile project planning and management solution.
The new version of the company's Agile Enterprise product, called summer 2007, includes extra support for software development environments that have multiple teams managing multiple projects, according to an announcement issued by the company.
Other features of the summer 2007 version include support for strategic planning and "team-based visibility across the organization."
The product is specifically designed to help keep track of software development using agile methods such as "Scrum, XP, DSDM and AgileUp," the announcement stated. It also supports customized and hybrid approaches.
Agile methods typically reflect small-team development efforts and rapid code changes. VersionOne's product isn't designed to support the so-called "waterfall" approach, where software development is often more prescribed than the agile approach and code is more heavily documented.
It's also "not an analysis, design, or programming tool," according to the company's Web site. Instead, the product provides lifecycle management tools via a browser-based interface for use by project managers, software developers and testers, among others, to gain oversight over development projects.
The latest version of the company's Agile Enterprise product can be locally installed or accessed via a hosted, on-demand service. VersionOne is based on the .NET platform and runs on Microsoft's SQL Server database.
The product is currently available on a subscription basis at $30 per user per month. It can also be licensed for $500 per user, with additional costs for support and maintenance. It's free for a five-user download.
