BindView Buys Entevo

BindView Corp. (www.bindview.com) today announced that it will acquire Entevo Corp. (www.entevo.com) for $125 million in a stock-for-stock swap.

Under terms of the agreement, Entevo's DirectManage suite will be added to BindView's NOSadmin for NT, which assists systems administrators in finding and fixing enterprise-wide NT security and configuration problems.

Entevo's products complement NOSadmin for NT by adding the ability to perform cross-platform directory management, as well as giving customers the ability to plan and manage migrations to Windows 2000 from both Windows NT and Novell Inc.’s (www.novell.com) NetWare.

In addition, the Entevo solutions enable the administration of Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Active Directory. Specific features include the ability to add new users and groups as well as delegating authority for day-to-day administrative tasks based on an individual's role in the organization, thereby reducing the complexity of managing large Windows-based networks.

The companies claim this combination will result in a solution for the administration and management of the security, configuration and availability of Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Active Directory.

Rick Villars, vice president of Internet and e-business strategies at International Data Corp. (www.idc.com) said in a statement that customers require best-of-breed solutions to manage directories.

"The combination of BindView and Entevo offers a one-stop-shop for administrating, configuring, securing and monitoring Windows 2000 and Active Directory,” he said. – Thomas Sullivan
