Network management vendor Mission Critical Systems (MCS,
www.missioncritical.com) today announced a proactive solution for managing Microsoft Active Directory.
The OnePoint Operations Manager solution for Active Directory will enable administrators to automatically manage and monitor the availability, responsiveness, and replication of Active Directory. It also automatically publishes reports on domain configuration, replication topology, and events produced by Active Directory.
The goal is to provide IT personnel with a central console to monitor and manage the server infrastructure, service levels, and applications in Windows NT/2000 and Active directory.
The solution includes several new features. Operations Manager's automated health monitoring and auditing feature conducts automated scheduled tests that verify the domain controllers are functioning, monitors key trouble indicators, and automatically alerts the administrator and performs recovery if trouble is detected. The solution monitors the replication process to aid directory data replication and protect data in case of network issues or inaccurate configuration. Through its ActiveAgent technology, Operations Manager automatically configures itself to changes in enterprise configuration. The solution also performs comprehensive reporting and auditing on machines, services, schema, OU structure, contacts, printers, and other objects of the Active Directory server infrastructure. The OnePoint Operations Manager is part of the OnePoint suite and will be available in Q1 of 2000. -- Isaac Slepner
