GFI Launches New E-mail Fax Server

GFI Ltd., a developer of fax server software, released its new e-mail-based fax server, FAXmaker for SMTP 2000. FAXmaker for SMTP 2000 is based on the SMTP protocol, and works in conjunction with the Windows 2000 SMTP service, an existing SMTP/POP3 server, or Lotus Notes. Instead of proprietary fax clients, Microsoft Outlook or an SMTP/POP3 client is used as the fax client.

FAXmaker for SMTP 2000 supports the Windows 2000 fax modem drivers, which give a wide range of hardware support. In conjunction with the Windows 2000 SMTP service, FAXmaker can also be used as a complete SMTP/POP3 server. FAXmaker can also integrate with SMTP/POP3 servers and Lotus Notes.

FAXmaker offers several enterprise-level features, such as remote user and fax server administration; least cost routing; user configuration profiles; remote viewing of fax server status; enhanced document rendering; an API toolkit using COM objects; and Word mail merge support.
