Microsoft, McData Form Strategic Agreement

Microsoft Corp. and McData Corp. have signed a strategic Lab Services agreement, which will establish a Microsoft and McData High-Availability Solution Center designed to offer customers pre-qualified and tested higher availability SANs for Windows 2000. Customers will be able to deploy both Windows 2000 and SANs.

The center is scheduled to open this month at both the Microsoft (www.microsoft.com) Product Support Services (PSS) facility in Bellevue, Wash., and at McData's (www.mcdata.com) System Integration Lab in Broomfield, Colo.

At the core of the enterprise SAN is the McData ED-5000 Director. The highly available characteristics of the ED-5000 Director complement Windows 2000-based applications.

At each facility, customers will be able to test highly available SANs with Microsoft and McData products and evaluate the capability of various configurations to meet their application platform requirements and performance goals. - Isaac Slepner
