Logility Extends Value Chain to the Internet

Logility Inc. (www.logility.com) extended its value chain solutions to the Internet today with a new set of "i-Commerce" solutions to enable companies to collaborate more effectively with trading partners.

The i-Commerce Initiatives include:

  • Logility Value Chain Solutions (LVCS) Internet-enabled value chain applications
  • i-Connection applications hosting service and applications management resources
  • i-Commerce tools expands the number of business processes that can be executed electronically via intranets, extranets and the Internet.
  • i-Community enables companies to collaborate with trading partners through a Web-based network.

LVCS enables manufacturers, distributors and retailers to manage the activities along their respective value chains and enhance collaboration among trading partners. The applications include: Demand Planning, Inventory Planning, Replenishment Planning, Manufacturing Planning & Scheduling, Event Planning, Demand Chain Voyager, Transportation Planning and Management, WarehousePro, Value Chain Designer and Logility Voyager XPS.

There are three service levels to the i-Connection hosting service. The first is the i-Community, where companies can collaborate with their trading partners using Voyager XPS. The second is the ability to access LVCS applications and finally, Logility provides application management services for installation and management of LVCS.

With i-Commerce tools, Logility offers a solution for Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment (CPFR) called Voyager XPS, which provides configurable deployment, scalability, Windows-centric architecture, open-integration architecture, value chain workflow and a universal exception builder.

Inland Paperboard and Packaging Inc. (www.iccnet.com), a wholly owned subsidiary of Temple-Inland Inc., has 46 converting facilities and six paper mills in North and South America. The company uses the i-Commerce solutions from Logility to conduct CPFR over the Internet. Inland will use Voyager XPS to manage its relationship with its customers.

"Inland sees Voyager XPS as an extension of VMI (vendor management inventory)," says Ken Smith, manager of e-commerce and EDI for Inland. "We have had success with Logility solutions and are doing VMI with our trading partners currently, but want to move forward to a true Internet-based CPFR environment in which we can manage exceptions more effectively." Inland also uses LVCS applications such as Demand Planning, Inventory Planning and Replenishment Planning. -- Brian Ploskina
