Ingram Micro Picks Up New Offerings
The big play service, product and financed distributor Ingram Micro Inc., just tacked on three new cloud services to help MSPs and VARs on sell-through options. Ingram had previously unveiled the new services at test runs at the Cloud Summit in June of 2011.
In August, Ingram hopes N-central, the remote management and monitoring (RMM) platform from N-Able Technologies and Trend Micro's Worry-Free Business Security Services, along with SEP.cloud, Symantec's Endpoint Protection.cloud, will help shore up business continuity and service options for partners.
These new service options come at a critical time where distributors such as Ingram Micro are getting into the cloud service partnership game in earnest, looking to tap into the MSP and VAR markets for value-added and multi-tiered revenue streams.
To that end, there's no further evidence of that aim than reports from Gartner, which have staged among other things that "Cloud computing is just topping the peak, and private cloud computing is still rising."
This means that from the enterprise, to the SMB to one-man/woman shops of all industry ilk, the global supply chain is lengthening and the cloud is a big part of that.
