SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 Released

Service Pack 2 (SP2) of SQL Server 2008 R2 is now available for download, Microsoft announced Thursday.
Not much seems to have changed since the release of a test preview of SP2 in May, though the final service pack fixes some minor issues. One new addition is an improvement to the "dynamic management view" function. Dynamic management views are used to "return server state information," according to an MSDN library article description.
SP2 is available now to keep various editions of SQL Server 2008 R2 up to date. The editions supported by SP2 range from the lofty Parallel Computing edition to the no-cost Express edition. Microsoft's release notes, available here, point users to the right file to download. Alternatively, SP2 can be accessed via the Microsoft download center.
The no-cost SP2 contains cumulative updates 1 though 5 from the first service pack plus additional hotfixes. As previously reported with the beta, the main issues addressed by SP2 include fixing some format problems with SQL Server reporting services, as well as a batch file caching problem.
