Microsoft Partner GrapeCity Acquires .NET Tool Vendor

Pittsburg-based Microsoft partner GrapeCity has acquired .NET component and tool vendor ComponentOne, the company announced at a pre-TechEd event in Orlando, Fla. on Sunday.

Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed, but an announcement on the ComponentOne Web site said the resulting company will have more than 850 employees. ComponentOne will now be referred to as "a division of Grape City."

"The acquisition of ComponentOne by GrapeCity will position the company as the forerunner in the Visual Studio industry," the announcement quotes Rick Williamson, general manager at GrapeCity, as saying. "Past, current, and new clients will benefit from the company’s ability to deliver the most innovative tools for varying platforms and the best performance and user experience on the market."

"With products available on every known platform including .NET, iPhone, Windows Phone, and JavaScript, ComponentOne...is now poised to dominate the component market," Williamson said.

.NET solution vendor GrapeCity was founded in 1980. According to the companies, GrapeCity and ComponentOne partnered on various projects since 1994.
