Seagate Technology Offers Toolkit for Vista System Builders

Seagate Technology on Monday released a toolkit for system builders to encourage sales of Seagate's storage products with Windows Vista.

The kit comes about nine months after Windows Vista first shipped, but just as Microsoft releases a beta for the first service pack, a common milestone for widespread adoption of a Microsoft client OS. The kit is available through the Seagate Partner Program (SPP) at spp.seagate.com.

Guiding system builders to pair the appropriate Seagate hard drive with the correct version of Windows Vista -- Ultimate, Home Premium, Home Basic, Business or Enterprise -- is the major function of the toolkit. Also included in the kit are white papers, brochures, sell sheets, a solutions guide, fact sheets and FAQs.

Seagate is marketing its Barracuda family of drives for use with Windows Vista. The line tops out at 1 TB of storage for a single PC. For laptops with Vista, the company offers the Momentus 5400 PSD, a 2.5-inch drive combining a rotating hard drive with flash memory. The company is also pushing the FreeAgent family of external drives for Vista.
