Management Console Beta for Forefront Security Released

Microsoft announced this week it is shipping the public beta for its forthcoming Forefront Server Security Management Console. The announcement came at the RSA Conference in San Francisco.

Launched last June, the Forefront line of business security products aims to provide customers with a complete line of information protection and secure access products. The Forefront brand reflects the company's ongoing commitment to offering a set of security products across client, server and edge platforms.

The goal of Forefront security products is to provide an additional layer of security -- on top of the operating system and applications -- to help protect customers' infrastructure against the very latest threats.

According to Microsoft statements, Forefront Server Security Management Console will provide a centralized, Web-based management solution for on-site or remote administration of Microsoft messaging and collaboration security solutions, including Forefront Security for Exchange Server, Forefront Security for SharePoint, and former versions of Microsoft Antigen products.

Release of the version 1 management console is set for sometime this summer, a company spokesperson said.
