Microsoft and EMC Corp. announced this week they are further expanding their cooperative marketing relationship by working to integrate Office SharePoint Server 2007 with the storage company's content Documentum content management product.
Under the agreement, EMC commits to bring to market new solutions that tightly integrate Documentum with multiple Microsoft products and technologies including SharePoint Server 2007, the 2007 Microsoft Office system, SQL Server 2005 and enterprise search solutions.
The alliance will enable SharePoint users to take advantage of Documentum's high-end content management features, the companies said in a statement.
When it's all rolled out, information workers will be able to access Documentum natively from within SharePoint Server 2007 and Office. The idea is to enable Users to accomplish tasks such as advanced records management, business process management, and imaging from within the Office environment.
Documentum will allow manual or automatic archival of content from SharePoint repositories to a Documentum repository, while keeping content accessible and searchable from within SharePoint Server, the companies said.
EMC will release support for Documentum on Microsoft SQL Server 2005 this quarter. EMC Documentum Content Services for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 and EMC Documentum Archive Services for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 is scheduled to be available during the first quarter of 2007, the companies said.
