Quest Software announced that it is shipping an administration tool designed to simplify management of sites based on Microsoft SharePoint technologies.
Quest Site Administrator for SharePoint is designed to help IT departments take control of their SharePoint-based collaboration platforms, according to statements from Aliso Viejo, Calif.-based Quest.
Site Administrator for SharePoint provides an automated discovery wizard that identifies all servers and sites across the network and allows searches to browse through discovered content. After all installations are found, IT administrators can gather information on site content details, user activity and storage metrics. The tool provides more than 30 pre-defined reports to help with planning decisions, the statements said.
Site Administrator also simplifies access to native SharePoint management tools, enabling centralized administration and control of SharePoint servers and sites throughout the enterprise. Centralized administration lets system managers implement global policy management and make enterprise-wide changes to server and site policies, including site content alerts, storage quotas, authorized users and permissions, in a single step.
Quest Site Administrator for SharePoint starts at $10 per managed user.
