New IE 7 Beta 3 Features Drag-and-Drop Browser Tabs
Microsoft quietly began shipping Beta 3 of Internet Explorer 7 on Thursday.
Among the tweaks in the latest beta is the ability to reorder browser tabs by dragging and dropping them, according to statements on Microsoft's IEblog. Other additions include features to make authenticated file transfer protocol (FTP) functions easier to use from the command line.
“IE7 now prompts for credentials and gives an html view of the FTP site,” the blog continues. Due to user demand, Beta 3 also adds back an icon to let users add the e-mail button back to the task bar.
Also added is a magnifier cursor to enable users to click to zoom the images they are hovering over.
The release notes are available here. You can find the IE 7 Beta 3 download here.
Editions of the beta run on Windows XP Service Pack 2, XP Professional x64 Edition and Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition, Windows Server 2003 SP-1, and Windows Server 2003 ia64 Edition for Intel Itanium-based systems.
