CommVault Releases QiNetx 6.1

CommVault announced it is shipping version 6.1 of its QiNetix data management suite.

The update includes IQ Ops, data and storage operations management software aimed at addressing the growing complexity of such operations, the Oceanport, N.J. firm said in a statement. IQ Ops is one of three principal additions in the new release.

Two other new products also highlight changes to QiNetx in 6.1. One is called ContinuousDataReplicator, which provides real-time continuous capture of changes as well as integrated recovery points. The third product addition is called Data Classification, which builds in “business knowledge” and works with the package’s Data Migration tool to automatically migrate lesser value information to less expensive tiers of storage, the company said.

Other improvements include an “optimized meta database” that matches processing jobs with devices, including all needed priority and path resources. Version 6.1 also adds enhanced failover and load balancing capabilities to be certain that gaps don’t occur between clients and backup servers.

In addition, CommVault announced new e-support options. For instance, the package’s troubleshooting capabilities can proactively alert IT staff via e-mail of maintenance requirements along with recommendations for problem prevention.
