Microsoft and Partners Unwrap Axapta Solutions

Microsoft’s Business Solutions group, along with several ISV partners, announced delivery of a set of Axapta-based, industry-specific ERP solutions.

The new solutions are part of Microsoft’s Industry Builder Initiative and carry the company’s new Microsoft “Dynamics” brand. (See, “Microsoft Ships Dynamics GP Finance Package,” November 17, 2005.) The solutions are being built in conjunction with individual Microsoft ISV partners.

Solutions coming Thursday are designed for businesses that specialize in retail, distribution, process manufacturing, professional services, industrial equipment manufacturing and field service management, according to a company statement.

A February report by analysis firm Nucleus Research describes Microsoft Axapta, which the company acquired when it purchased Navision in 2002, as providing organizations with “a system to consolidate manufacturing processes and a central collection point for data related to business operations.”

Under the Industry Builder Initiative, Microsoft collaborates with ISVs to design solutions for specific industries. Axapta solutions created under the initiative include a Microsoft customer support offering.

Additional solutions will be released over the next few months, Microsoft said.

The new solutions this week include Supply Chain Execution for Microsoft Axapta from Manhattan Associates Inc., Process Industries for Microsoft Axapta from Fullscope, Professional Services for Microsoft Axapta from Foliodev LLC , Industrial Equipment Manufacturing for Microsoft Axapta from To-Increase and Field Service Automation for Microsoft Axapta from Iteration2.
