Atempo Intros Data Compliance Tool

Information lifecycle management protection vendor Atempo is shipping an addition to its Time Navigator suite of tools aimed at providing security and compliance for data storage.

Time Navigator Security and Compliance Manager (SCM) is designed to secure data backup and restore from threats like eavesdropping, tampering and impersonation, according to company statements. It enables administrators to encrypt data with up to 13 levels of encryption and hash algorithms, applied according to the data’s value and compliance retention period, in order to provide both “in flight” and “at rest” data protection.

SCM provides templates for Sarbanes-Oxley, SEC-17a, HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and other regulations. The tool automatically applies layers of security to different classes of data. Additionally, organizations can specify data retention periods, encryption methods, certificates and security policies for different departments, users and applications. Digital signatures help assure the information’s integrity throughout its lifecycle, and an audit trail capability tracks all activities.

Time Navigator SCM supports both Windows 2000 Server and Windows Server 2003.
