August Patch Tuesday to Bring Six Bulletins

The Microsoft Security Response Center said Thursday that it plans to release six security bulletins for Windows in August. The maximum severity of the bulletins, scheduled to post on Tuesday, is critical.
The updates will require a restart and will be detectable using the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer tool.
Microsoft also intends to release a new version of the Malicious Software Removal tool and a high-priority, non-security release that will be distributed over Microsoft Update, Windows Update, Software Update Services and Windows Server Update Services.
The company issued the warning as part of its advance notification service. The program is designed to give IT professionals some indication of how much time they'll need to dedicate to the Microsoft bulletins each Patch Tuesday, which falls on the second Tuesday of every month. The information in the advance notifications remains vague to prevent attackers from guessing at the nature of the flaws before they are released.
Although Microsoft's advance notice information usually matches up with the actual bulletins delivered the following Tuesday, the company warns users that all information in the advance notice is subject to change.
