Sybari Antigen Gets MOM Management Pack

Microsoft's recently acquired Sybari Software subsidiary took a first public step toward fitting in on Wednesday with the release of a Sybari Antigen management pack for Microsoft Operations Manager 2005.

The release of management packs is a key requirement for all Microsoft server products as part of Microsoft's Dynamic Systems Initiative. Microsoft products are currently supposed to be designed to be managed via the MOM infrastructure, and each product team must develop a management pack so the product can snap in to MOM.

Sybari developed the management pack for Sybari Antigen for Microsoft Exchange and Sybari Antigen for SMTP Gateways. The two Sybari Antigen products use multiple scanning engines from major anti-virus and anti-spam vendors to check and clean e-mail messages.

The management pack is supposed to give administrators centralized control of anti-virus and anti-spam events; provide monitoring of Antigen application performance and server availability; collect scan rate and detection statistics; and initiate scan engine updates, manual scan jobs and configuration changes on remotely managed servers.

Microsoft announced plans to acquire Sybari in February and closed the deal late last month.
