SP2 Released for SQL Server Reporting Services

A new service pack out for SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services adds several end-user features, as well as standard bug fixes, to the free add-on for the SQL Server database.
Reporting Services is Microsoft's reporting platform for providing real-time information from heterogeneous data sources to end-user systems and devices. Microsoft added Reporting Services to SQL Server 2000 in January 2004.
Microsoft posted Service Pack 2 for Reporting Services to the Microsoft Download Center this week. The SP2 download page is available here.
The service pack, which requires a reboot, adds SharePoint Web parts to allow users to explore and view reports located on a report server by using Windows SharePoint Services or Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server. It also adds a Microsoft ActiveX control to support richer client-side printing. Newly supported are full-page print previews and the ability to print reports directly from Internet Explorer.
The company originally announced some of the new features coming in Reporting Services SP2 last month. At the time, Microsoft said more than 150,000 copies of Reporting Services had been downloaded.
Service packs for Reporting Services and SQL Server 2000 are on different release schedules. A Service Pack 4 for the SQL Server 2000 database is expected in a few weeks.
