Altiris on Wednesday released an updated version of its IT asset management suite that integrates more smoothly with common databases and provides users with new ways to look at their IT inventories.
The Altiris Asset Management Suite consists of Asset Control Solution and Contract Management Solution. It costs $64 per node in quantities of 100 to 499 nodes, with volume discounts available for larger purchases.
In an effort to make it easier to integrate with common human resources and financial software existing in the enterprise, Altiris has expanded the import data types it supports and added data export functionality.
Previously, users could only import data from SQL Server, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access or import comma-delimited (CSV) data files. Now data can be exported to all those applications and file types, and Altiris has added import and export support for Oracle databases, which lie at the foundation of many common financial and HR applications.
Altiris expanded its asset management console to include summary tabs for viewing enterprise-wide assets by computer, software license agreement, user, leased hardware and other categories.
The Contract Management Solution in the suite has gained a wizard-based interface that allows administrators to run standard reports on such topics as purchase date, installations and real use of applications.
