Lucid8 Ships Exchange Continuous Data Protection Tool

Lucid8 is shipping DigiVault, a new continuous data protection product for Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5, 2000 and 2003.

DigiVault backs up data every time a change is made, ensuring e-mail is continually protected. The package is designed to provide protection against loss of e-mails sent between the last scheduled backup and a system failure. It is meant to work with the company’s mainstay Goexchange Exchange Server optimization suite.

Lucid8’s DigiVault is the first module of a new technology strategy that Newcastle, Wash.-based Lucid8 calls its Enterprise System Protector (ESP) framework, the company said in a statement. Additional ESP modules for SQL Server, Active Directory, IIS and other third-party platforms such as Oracle's database systems and IBM's Lotus notes are also in progress.

The package uses data compression to reduce the volume of data transferred and stored, minimizing the impact of constant data protection on the network infrastructure. In addition, it features “SingleTouch” recovery, which lets administrators quickly restore an individual database, storage group or all databases to the point in time just before a failure occurred.

DigiVault is priced on a per server basis, based upon the number of mailboxes. It starts at $695 for 25 mailboxes.
