Office Accelerator Coming for Sarbanes-Oxley

Microsoft plans to release a toolset for compliance with the U.S. Sarbanes-Oxley Act in March, the company announced this week.
The toolset will be part of the Microsoft Office Solution Accelerator series and will be built on Windows SharePoint Services and Microsoft Office InfoPath 2003.
Sarbanes-Oxley was passed in 2002 and deals with internal financial controls of publicly traded companies. The Microsoft Office Solution Accelerator for Sarbanes-Oxley will specifically address recurring needs surrounding internal controls documentation, monitoring and testing.
Microsoft positions the accelerator as a way "to help companies meet growing compliance requirements in a cost-effective way with software they already license." The software giant will leverage its own experience as a publicly-traded company complying with Sarbanes-Oxley in its development effort. Microsoft corporate controller Scott Di Valerio said his group is working with the Microsoft product group in developing the product. Microsoft is also getting input from the Big Four accounting firms.
