System Aims to Block IM Attacks Proactively

At a time when security threats are multiplying for corporate instant messaging users, IMlogic says it has a solution. The Waltham, Mass. company just shipped its Real-Time Threat Protection System – and if that just doesn’t roll right off the tongue, call it RTTPS for short.
RTTPS is an add-on to IMlogic’s IM Manager and Threat Center products and provides preemptive capabilities meant to predict and combat the occurrence of so-called “zero-day” worm attacks via corporate IM systems.
The patent-pending RTTPS technology establishes a global, networked community to exchange threat detection and blocking information in real-time to block IM security attacks, typically well in advance of anti-virus vendors releasing new signature file updates.
The add-on automatically detects and quarantines suspicious or dangerous enterprise IM traffic before IM worms and viruses can propagate, infecting users and causing significant damage to corporate systems, according to the company.
IMlogic RTTPS integrates with IMlogic IM Manager 7.0 and IM Manager 7.5. On IM Manager 7.5, system managers can monitor and analyze RTTPS traffic directly from the administrative console. RTTPS costs $10 per user per year.
