CMS Peripherals Inc. announced its line
of automatic backup systems (ABS) for notebook and desktop PCs.
The
ABS for notebooks offers storage capacities from 6 GB to 30 GB and a choice of
PCMCIA or USB interface. The slightly larger desktop version provides up to 60
GB of storage using a hot-swappable USB interface. PCMCIA versions are
compatible with Windows 95/98, Windows Me, Windows NT, and Windows 2000.
Desktop and USB versions are compatible with Windows 98, Me, and 2000.
Upon
insertion, the ABS automatically backs up files from the user’s hard drive to
the ABS. After the initial backup, the ABS seeks out and copies only the
changed files on the user’s system.
