Sun To Nix Other Dev Tools For NetBeans

Sun Microsystems will discontinue its Sun Java Studio Enteprise and Java Studio Creator lineups and try to move those users to NetBeans, according to this Infoworld story.

The NetBeans IDE competes with Eclipse IDEs for the hearts and minds of Java-centric developers. Eclipse backers include IBM, BEA Systems, Borland, Oracle, Iona, Wind River and others.

NetBeans evangelist Greg Sporar told InfoWorld there will be an orderly process and that the move was being done because "users want a single tool and framework" for all sorts of functionality.
