Sun-Microsoft Collab Results in Interop Center
Sun, Microsoft are working together to develop a set of guidelines for implementing Exchange Server 2007 on Sun server and storage hardware.

Sun Microsystems and Microsoft are working together to develop a set of guidelines
for implementing Exchange Server 2007 on Sun server and storage hardware. Billed
as Sun's Infrastructure Solution for Exchange, the guidelines allow scalable
implementations for 1,000 to 20,000 mailboxes.
The Sun Infrastructure Solution for Exchange marks the first official collaborative
effort to emerge from the Sun/Microsoft Interoperability Center, which officially
opened up on the Microsoft Campus on Monday. The center has been in development
for three year, ever since Sun and Microsoft buried the competitive hatchet.
According to a press release, the center will serve "as a working lab for tuning,
benchmarking and interoperability solutions creation." It has Sun Fire and StorageTek
test machines running Windows Server 2008 and Exchange Server 2007 and the ability
to test cross-platform virtualization server implementations, including Windows
Hyper-V and Sun xVM.
The center will also provide certification services for Java Platform Standard and Enterprise Edition and Java Runtime Environment applications running on Windows Server 2008.
