Hitachi To Sell Business PCs Made by HP
Japanese electronics maker Hitachi said Friday it will sell personal computers
made by Hewlett-Packard Co. that are designed for businesses under the Hitachi
brand in Japan.
The latest deal strengthens longtime cooperative ties with the California-based
computer and software company, Hitachi Ltd. said in a statement. HP already
provides Hitachi with servers,
The HP-made computers will replace the Flora line currently sold by Hitachi,
company spokesman Masayuki Takeuchi said. The consumer line called Prius will
continue with products manufactured by Hitachi, he said.
Hitachi sells about 350,000 business PCs and about 140,000 consumer-line personal
computers a year, he said.
