Symantec Completes BindView Purchase

Symantec this week announced it has completed its purchase of enterprise security compliance software maker BindView.

The two companies announced the deal in early October, and had targeted the sale to close sometime this quarter.

“Symantec's agent-based technology architecture offers full-featured compliance and vulnerability management and is well-suited for enterprises that have complex and heterogeneous IT environments . . . [while] BindView's agent-less architecture, which is less IT staff-intensive, is ideal for organizations faced with managing a large number of systems that are not centrally located, such as Windows desktop machines deployed throughout the enterprise,” Symantec officials said in a statement.

When the deal was first announced, Cupertino, Calif.-based Symantec said it would pay approximately $209 million in cash for Houston, Texas-based BindView.
