ScriptLogic Ships Update to Security Management Tool

ScriptLogic is shipping version 5.0 of its Security Explorer file permission management and server security tool.

New in version 5.0 are a multi-threaded architecture that lets administrators perform multiple operations simultaneously, as well as enhanced migration, search, export, backup and restore capabilities. Additionally, 5.0 features an updated user interface, according to the Boca Raton, Fla. company.

Security Explorer 5.0 now manages printer permissions in addition to NTFS volumes, registry keys and shares, and can also rapidly backup and restore file, registry and file share permissions.

When user accounts need to be moved between domains, or migrated from Windows NT 4 to Active Directory, the update provides an enhanced “clone” feature that automates the process of creating and updating file permissions to reflect the new user account Security Identifiers (SIDs).

Additionally, version 5.0 provides enhanced logging and reporting details when cleaning out permissions from unknown or deleted user accounts, or when exporting permissions data. Lists of permissions can now be copied and pasted in order to speed and simplify security management, and a new “favorites” feature gives administrators quick access to frequently managed resources.

Finally, the new multi-threaded architecture enables IT managers to have multiple complex permissions management tasks running simultaneously.

Pricing for ScriptLogic’s Security Explorer 5.0 starts at $419 per server.
