CLI Rolls Out New Thin Clients

Computer Lab International (CLI) is shipping two new additions to its “Next Generation” line of thin clients that support Microsoft and Citrix protocols.

CLI’s MT1500x thin client, runs on Windows XP Embedded and includes Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player, Microsoft Java Virtual Machine and support for Windows XP Professional device drivers.

The MT1500x supports both Microsoft Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) and Citrix Independent Computing Architecture (ICA) protocol to access Windows applications. It also features multiple terminal emulations, including IBM 5250, 3270, 3151; Wyse WY-50, WY-60; DEC VT-100, and VT-420, to provide access to midrange, mainframe, Unix and other legacy applications, according to the Placentia, Calif. company.

There are ports on the MT1500x for serial and parallel printers, 10/100 BaseT Fast Ethernet, USB, PS/2 and audio. It comes with 256 MB of flash memory and 256 MB of DRAM, and it costs $510.

CLI also introduced a low-end thin client dubbed the MT1200p. Like the other members of the Next Generation line, it provides support for both RDP and ICA, and features 10/100 BaseT Fast Ethernet, USB and audio ports.

The unit comes with 32 MB of flash memory and 128 MB of DRAM. Unlike the MT1500x, the MT1200p runs on embedded Mandrake Linux instead of XP. CLI’s MT1200p lists for $291, although the company says street price is closer to $255.

Both units come with keyboards and mice, and both carry a three-year, return-to-depot warranty. Both also include CLI SNMP Administrator, software that provides centralized management and control of all CLI desktops.
