Quest Software this week released a new version of its tool for automatically generating and maintaining distribution lists and groups within Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory.
ActiveGroups 6.0, like previous versions, is designed to reduce the manual effort of maintaining up-to-date groups and lists. The tool allows administrators to create policies for group membership based on employee information stored in directories and databases, according to Quest.
"When attempting to perform distribution list and group management, administrators often feel they are fighting a losing battle," David Champine, director of Exchange solutions in Quest's Windows Management group, said in a statement.
The 6.0 version adds the ability to apply multiple rules for group creation, including the addition of sub-groups based on location, department and job function, the company said.
The software is available immediately with prices starting at $3 per managed user.
