Microsoft will offer a revamped version of its healthcare industry extension to Microsoft BizTalk Server, the BizTalk Accelerator for HIPAA, on Dec. 1.
Microsoft formally introduced BizTalk Accelerator for HIPAA 2.0 this week at the Fifth National HIPAA Summit in Baltimore. The standard edition of the BizTalk Accelerator for HIPAA 2.0 will cost $5,000 per processor, while the enterprise edition will cost $20,000 per CPU.
The original version of the accelerator was designed to help healthcare organizations comply with the 1996 Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) transaction standards. The new version brings support for new implementation guides, transactions and standards that will be mandated by the law. For example, the 2.0 version will include significant updates to the implementation guides that were finalized this month.
The new version also adds a Trading Partner Manager interface and a wizard for importing lists of relevant HIPAA codes.
Microsoft is working with several major systems integrators and healthcare software vendors on specific solutions and infrastructure.
