Name: Tom Wayman
Title: Vice President of Product Strategy & Marketing at Laserfiche

RCP: What's the elevator pitch for your company to a Microsoft partner?
Wayman: When it comes to transactional content management (TCM), Laserfiche has 25 years of experience providing plug-and-play solutions to more than 32,000 organizations around the world. If you've got a bid that requires quickly deployed TCM functionality, Laserfiche provides a comprehensive suite of TCM tools on a shared Microsoft foundation to support Microsoft environments while leveraging your existing Microsoft skillsets. With Laserfiche, you're not cobbling together functionality from a bunch of different places; you're tapping one vendor to deliver the same TCM/BPM functionality on SQL and SharePoint. Plus, we provide bid support, technical support and a test environment where you can experiment with Laserfiche products.

For partners who may not have thought about your company since the last WPC, what would they need to know about what you've been up to for the past 12 months?
Two years ago, Laserfiche was the first Microsoft partner to obtain a DoD 5015.2 certification for its integration with SharePoint 2010. This two-way integration provides a unified business collaboration platform designed to support users who need DoD 5015.2-certified records management, turnkey TCM and complete document capture and imaging functionality.

Over the last 12 months, we've focused on building a strong base of customers who use our SharePoint 2010 integration to automate transactional processes. For example:

  • The city of Buffalo, N.Y. uses Laserfiche and SharePoint to improve case management.

  • Oklahoma Christian University uses Laserfiche and SharePoint to accelerate financial aid processing.

  • Emirates National Oil Company uses Laserfiche and SharePoint to automate employee forms submission.

  • Virginia Port Authority uses Laserfiche and SharePoint to automate vendor selection.

  • Spindletop MHMR Services, a mental health agency in Texas, uses Laserfiche and SharePoint to increase medical records management efficiency.

  • New York's Roslyn School District uses Laserfiche and SharePoint to provide parents with real-time access to paperless information about their children.

Out of your entire product portfolio, what's the product or service that Microsoft partners should be aware of right now?
Microsoft partners should pay particular attention to Laserfiche Rio, our enterprise solution. Laserfiche has always built on top of Microsoft technologies to support close integration with industry-standard platforms, but Laserfiche Rio takes this tradition to a new level, featuring even more transparent integration with Windows, Office and SharePoint, so organizations can more easily leverage existing investments in Microsoft technology and staff skillsets.

Are you announcing anything at WPC?
Not this year.

What should Microsoft partners keep an eye out for from your company over the next year?
Over the next year, Laserfiche will launch a major product update: Laserfiche 8.4. Among many other updates, version 8.4 will provide a tighter integration between the Laserfiche Client and Office, as well full integration between Office and Laserfiche Web Access, our thin-client solution.

Why should someone visit your booth this year (free stuff, amazing demo, contest, promotion, etc.)
Free coffee, insulated water bottles and in-depth TCM demos around case management, accounts payable processing and hiring/HR onboarding.

As a company, what are your goals for WPC this year?
We want to get the word out about the win-win value proposition we offer to our partners. For example, General Dynamics Information Technology, a system integrator with roughly 17,000 employees worldwide, says, "We often see a requirement for specific ECM functionality and uses, such as storing old and new documents and then continuing to be able to capture them...Laserfiche allows us deliver the best technical solution cost effectively."

What's the profile of the ideal partner you're hoping to connect with at WPC this year?
Because Laserfiche solutions are so scalable, our ideal partners run the gamut from one-man consulting shops to global system integrator firms. We're looking for partners who recognize the value that TCM brings to customers, and who want to complement their current offerings with easy-to-implement TCM solutions for targeted markets including government, health care, financial services and education.

Who are some of your team members a partner might meet at your booth (names and titles)?
Tom Wayman, vice president of product strategy & marketing; Sean Tang, vice president of international business; Alex Wilson, director of partner programs; Andrew Brown, regional director, Laserfiche Strategic Services, Canada.

For partners' post-show follow-up, who should they contact and how (phone number or e-mail address)?
Alex Wilson, director of partner programs, at [email protected] or 562-988-1688 x556.
