Nadella To Replace Burgum on Dynamics Team

Microsoft announced Tuesday that veteran manager Satya Nadella will succeed Doug Burgum as head of the company's Business Solutions group, which develops and markets the Dynamics brand of small and mid-sized business applications.

Burgum is leaving the company after a nine-month transition period. The executive shuffle is not expected to impact any upcoming product plans, including the pending debut of Microsoft Dynamics CRM Live.

"We are now on track to deliver Microsoft Dynamics CRM Live, Microsoft Dynamics GP 10, Microsoft Dynamics SL 7.0, Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 and other products in the pipeline over the coming year," Nadella said in a statement.

Nadella's new job title is corporate vice president for Microsoft Business Solutions. He joined the company in 1992, according to his online biography. Prior to his new job, he was head of the Microsoft Dynamics global development team located in Copenhagen, Fargo, North Dakota, Hyderabad, India and Redmond, where he was responsible for Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Dynamics GP, Dynamics NAV, Dynamics AX, Dynamics SL and Microsoft Office Small Business products, his bio states.

Burgum, meanwhile, was chairman and CEO of Great Plains Software, a midmarket software company that Microsoft acquired in April 2001. Burgum led Microsoft's acquisition of Navision, a Denmark-based midmarket software company, in July 2002. Microsoft combined the two to create Microsoft Business Solutions (MBS).
